CASH INFLUX FOR GRANGEMOUTH KIDS

Two groups of youngsters from Grangemouth have received a cash boost thanks to an East Scotland housebuilder. Grangemouth High School and Grange Kidz have received donations courtesy of Persimmon Homes East Scotland’s Community Champions, the housebuilder’s charity initiative which awards up to £2,000 to two charities each month. Grangemouth High School applied for the money to help to fund a trip to China for 13 of its pupils. The cultural excursion aims to broaden the youngsters’ horizons and understanding of the global market. Laura Maden, teacher at Grangemouth High School joining the pupils on the trip, said: “We are thrilled to receive this funding. It takes the school a step closer towards the target to raise £15,000 and will help us to make the trip accessible to more of our pupils.” Grange Kidz also received £500 from the Community Champions fund that will support a summer programme of activities that is affordable for children aged from four and a half to 16 years of age. “We are keen to take the pressure off parents in Grangemouth by offering our summer play scheme without pressurising people to pay the high costs associated with child care,” said Iona Welch, manager at Grange Kidz. “We rely on grants and donations to help deliver our activities and are thrilled to be named one of Persimmon’s Community Champions.” Jim Kirkpatrick, managing director for Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “We are committed to supporting people and groups in the communities in which we are operating – that’s what Community Champions is all about. “Both Grangemouth High School and Grange Kidz work with a wide range of young people in Grangemouth and we are proud to support them as they deliver a trip of a lifetime and a summer to remember for those involved. Persimmon Homes East Scotland is preparing the launch of its latest development less than 10 minutes from Grangemouth in Falkirk. Thornhill Wynd at Etna Road will be open to the public in September 2018 offering a range of two, three, four and five-bedroom homes. Further information is available on 01324 467169. “Choosing our winner each month is a challenge and we encourage people that were unsuccessful last month to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next Community Champion.”
