New Appointment at intu Metrocentre: Sarah Wong

Sarah Wong has been appointed digital marketing coordinator at intu Metrocentre, Europe’s largest retail and leisure destination.

Sarah, 33, was born in North Yorkshire where she attended Richmond School before studying Fashion Design at Darlington College, followed by Fashion Marketing at Northumbria University where she gained a BA Honours degree in 2009.

After graduation Sarah worked in the digital team at Soap & Glory in their London head office, which ignited her passion for the industry, with particular emphasis on aspects such as e-commerce, social media and digital marketing. She then moved back to the north east after securing the role of Social Media and Content Editor at independent designer retailer, Psyche, in Middlesbrough.

“Working at Soap & Glory and Psyche, as well as running my own online boutique for six years, gave me invaluable insight into what customers expect from their shopping experience. Most people have become accustomed to engaging with brands in real time so it’s vital that the information they receive is accurate, relevant and creative” Sarah explains.

“I’m excited and proud to be part of the team at intu Metrocentre, it really is a dream job. Digital marketing is a fast-paced and constantly evolving area of the business - it certainly keeps me on my toes! I’m looking forward to all aspects of the job – particularly creating engaging content and delivering compelling digital campaigns that resonate with shoppers.”

On weekends, the majority of Sarah’s spare time is spent working on her fashion and beauty blog – one which she has passionately grown over the last ten years and which has seen her create content for a host of aspirational brands. Sarah’s passion for fashion resulted in her winning the title of LOOK Magazine’s Best Blog and being nominated for Cosmopolitan Blog Awards.

“I’ve always loved keeping up to date with the latest fashion and beauty trends - between my work and my blog, my life really does revolve around shopping” she revealed. “Outside of work I’m trying to be more spontaneous – I went on a last-minute trip to Thailand and Hong Kong in January, this totally set the tone for the year and I committed myself to making the most of every opportunity that comes my way!”

Helen Atkinson, marketing manager at intu Metrocentre added:

“At intu Metrocentre we have unique insight into what our shoppers want from their retail experience and, thanks to our skilled team, we create compelling experiences both on and offline.

“Sarah’s passion for retail, her innate creativity and understanding of the industry really shine through her campaigns and we’re sure that everyone will find her content exciting, engaging and enticing! She’s is a great asset to the shopping centre and we’re delighted to welcome her to the team.”
