‘Integral’ six-storey student scheme coming to Epsom
Plans for a six-storey student accommodation development in Surrey have received the go-ahead from Epsom & Ewell Borough Council.
London-based property consultancy Carter Jonas secured planning consent for the 99-bed scheme, which will be known as Bradford House.
Willco Properties Ltd, the residential developer behind the project, will deliver the building on East Street in Epsom.
Bradford House will include 2,384 sq ft of Grade A office space and basement parking. It will replace an ageing, vacant office complex.
The development is part of an agreement between Willco Properties and the University of the Creative Arts (UCA) to expand the student accommodation offering in Epsom.
Katy Davis, partner at Carter Jonas, said: “UCA recently announced the launch of a new business school for the 2018/19 academic year and it is hoped the scheme will be fully operational in time for 2020.
“There is currently a 50% shortfall in accommodation, so the development will be integral to meeting demand in an area that is already popular with students.”
Katy added: “It will also bring further vitality to Epsom town centre given the development’s proximity to shops, amenities and public transport.”
Bradford House was designed by architects Geoffrey Sloan Associates.
