Southbank Place residential developments near completion
Two separate phases at London’s Southbank Place have recently achieved topping out, marking an important stage in the construction of the landmark development.
Buildings One Casson Square and Thirty Casson Square have reached their full height of over 105 and 127 metres above ground level respectively.
The 29 and 34-storey buildings form part of five residential buildings, 530,000 sq ft of office space and 48,000 sq ft of retail, leisure and hospitality space that will form Southbank Place when completed.
Southbank Place is a joint venture between Qatari Diar and Canary Wharf Group. Situated between Waterloo and County Hall, residents can benefit from transport links, including a new entrance into Waterloo Station on York Road, directly on Southbank Place.
Designed by Squire & Partners, the buildings of Casson Square pay homage to the history of the area, aptly named after the British architect, and former director of the South Bank’s Festival of Britain, Sir Hugh Casson.
Richard Oakes, sales and marketing director, Qatari Diar Real Estate Investment Company, said: “The topping-out of these two residential buildings marks a momentous occasion for Southbank Place and the construction programme.
“The teams involved with the projects, at every level, have put in a tremendous amount of hard-work and effort into reaching this stage.”
One and Thirty Casson Square comprise a concrete façade, detailed with bronze inlaid fluting at the colonnaded base.
The first building to launch at Southbank Place, One Casson Square comprises 213 one, two and three-bedroom apartments, including spectacular upper level penthouses.
Thirty Casson Square is located next door and will house 166 studios, one, two and three-bedroom apartments and penthouses.
Brian De’ath, director of Residential Sales at Canary Wharf Group, added: “Southbank Place speaks for itself; the combination of striking interior and exterior designs, the location, views and amenities have resulted in some truly unique central London homes.
“When finished, both One and Thirty Casson Square will become two of London’s finest residential addresses.”
