Family Insurance Company Celebrates

A husband and wife insurance team has been boosted to new heights in the last few weeks with a number of accolades, awards and nominations thanks to their unusual community spirited approach.

Founded in 2015 by disabled army veteran Richard Talbot-Jones and his wife Clare, Gateshead based Talbot Jones Risk Solutions is grounded in an ethical approach, which stands out in the market.

The team focuses on their positive impact in the community, supporting the third sector, community groups and SME’s who look to make a difference.

And this week the couple, which is highly qualified in the financial sector, was delighted to discover that Richard has been included in Insurance Business UK’s list of Top Specialty Brokers for his work in the third sector.

Richard has over a decade of experience in the industry and, as well as offering his qualified services through the business, is also a trustee of two regional social enterprises, serves on the advisory board of a Durham University based research institute, a Scout leader and sits on a board that distributes EU funding in Gateshead. Richard said:

“As well as servicing our clients, which come from varying sectors, including the third sector, we immerse ourselves in supporting the local community and charitable causes. With two young children, professional development and further qualification commitments, we are kept exceptionally busy so it is very gratifying to be recognised for our work and commitment.”

Clare is also involved in a number of community support roles on top of developing the business for the company. She sits as a trustee for St Chad’s Community Project and has also taken on responsibility for Coatsworth Village Association alongside volunteering at the Millin Charity, mentoring and supporting local women into business.

On the back of this, Clare has been nominated for a diversity champion accolade at the Forward Ladies Regional Awards. The awards are at the Crowne Plaza in Newcastle on 14th September and Clare is looking forward to meeting over 250 like-minded businesswomen on the day.

The company is also especially proud to have just been awarded The Equality Standard for planning and promoting good equality and diversity practices within the workplace.

Clare said:

“Community and positive relationships are at the heart of what we do. With over 50% growth on last year and a 92% retention rate, our figures are healthy, but what really motivates us is the ability to help build resilient and sustainable organisations with firm foundations and to create new jobs.”

In May they grew their team to four members of staff, after taking on a new recruit through an autism-training program.
