Original Rugby Football League home in Leeds undergoes £1m transformation

The former Leeds headquarters of the Rugby Football League has undergone a conversion with a difference - into a £1m-plus collection of modern apartments.

City developers, V2 Homes have kicked off a new era for the historic site on Chapeltown Road by transforming it into 14 furnished flats - all to rent.

They have now been launched to market through the nearby Chapel Allerton branch of residential sales and letting specialists Linley & Simpson and are ready to move into next month.

Paul Bridgeman, branch manager of Linley & Simpson, Chapel Allerton, said: “The restoration of the building and conversion into V2 Mansions, with the retention of its brickwork and mature trees in the large communal gardens, provides an attractive gateway to the area from north Leeds.

Originally, the site was the permanent home of the RFL for more than 73 years until the sport moved to Red Hall House on the outskirts of the city in 1995.

The site then became Leeds council offices before being vacated, thus falling into disrepair.

The gated complex offers a collection of one and two-bedroomed furnished apartments, some of which are duplex and with two bathrooms.
