Local Primary School design duck development for St. Benedict’s Hospice
: Following the launch of their new sales cabin at Cherry Tree Park, Barratt Homes North East have teamed up with St. Patrick’s Primary School in Ryhope to design a series of duck houses for St. Benedict’s Hospice.
St. Benedict’s Hospice already had a duck house installed in their pond but due to bad weather the roof became damaged. Barratt Homes challenged the Year One class to help them design patterns onto two brand new duck houses to create the duck development “Cherry Tree Pond”.
The winning two designs belonged to Sophie Short and Ayda Moore, both age 6 as their designs included colourful rainbows and vibrant patterns that will bring colour to the St. Benedict’s Pond. The school also received a £50 for taking part in the competition and were invited to see their designs on the finished duck houses.
Katrina Flynn, Head of Fundraising Operations at St. Benedict’s Hospice commented: “The new duck houses are a great asset to the pond and the children did a brilliant job designing them. The ducks are well loved by both the visitors and patients at the hospice and we’re happy they now have their very own Cherry Tree Pond development!”
Ashlea Wright, Sales Manager at Barratt Homes North East, commented: “We were delighted with the entries we received from the school and the Cherry Tree Pond development is a brilliant connection to the brand new Cherry Tree Park development. It’s always important to us to connect and work with the communities that we build in and we hope to support both St. Benedict’s Hospice and St. Patrick’s Primary School in the future.”
