Academic Success for Abbey College Manchester’s International Students

Students and staff at Abbey College Manchester are celebrating an exceptional 100% pass rate in four out of five International Foundation Programme (IFP) Pathways.

Engineering, Humanities, Science and Medicine were highly-excelled in at the city-centre based college, while the Business pathway achieved an impressive pass rate of 98%.

As an alternative to A-levels, the IFP courses offer international students the opportunity to gain a thorough grounding in the key concepts and theories they will meet during their undergraduate studies. The programme has been commended with full accreditation by the NCFE (Northern Council for Further Education).

Following this year’s success, much-coveted places have been achieved at leading universities including Manchester, University College London, Aston, Queen Mary, Bristol, Bath, King’s College London, Sheffield, Leeds, Birmingham, Nottingham, York, Southampton, Manchester Metropolitan, UCLan and Salford.

One of the celebrating students is Yuze Yang (19), who passed the Engineering pathway with 89%. Yuze will now go on to study Computer Science at King’s College London.

Principal at Abbey College Manchester, Liz Elam commented: “This is a fantastic achievement for the IFP programme as the students have worked extremely hard.

“A-levels are not always suited to the academic strengths of international students, so the IFP programme provides another option to achieve a place at most British universities, including members of the prestigious Russell Group. We wish our students the best of luck for the future.”
