Harvey & Hugo’s training and recruitment division celebrates successful first year

North East-based PR, social media and content creation agency, Harvey & Hugo, is celebrating the successful first year of its training and specialist recruitment division, Hugoversity.

Launched in September 2017, Hugoversity has already provided support to over 200 individuals from more than 75 businesses across the North East.

Hugoversity’s mission is to provide its clients and other businesses with the skills and knowledge they need to become their own brand curators, including strategy development, recruitment of communications specialists and bespoke training.

Managing Director of Harvey & Hugo, and Hugoversity’s Head Girl, Charlotte Nichols said: “At Hugoversity we truly believe that learning never stops. No matter how experienced you may be, it is so important to continue building on your existing skills.

“It’s becoming even more crucial in today’s ever accelerating digital world. This is exactly why we call ourselves Prefects rather than teachers as we believe we are all still learning too.”

Hugoversity’s training method is based around the old Chinese Proverb, ‘tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand’. Students are therefore immersed in live demonstrations and workshops rather than just learning from text and worksheets.

Held every fourth Friday of the month, the business also offers free training seminars to give a flavour of how it can support and add value to its clients. These have covered a range of topics including GDPR, Instagram and how to build your brand identity.

Charlotte continued: “The free seminars provide an insight into some of the training subjects we can cover. We’ve been delighted at the turn-out at the seminars and hope to build on this in our second year.”

Feedback from the seminars has been highly positive with over 95 per cent of alumni grading the Prefects A and above for content and delivery.

Regular Hugoversity attendee, Sarah Fairley, from accountancy firm Anderson Barrowcliff, said: “I find the Hugoversity seminars incredibly helpful and informative. The Prefects make the presentations fun and the information easy to digest. I would certainly recommend them to anyone looking to brush up on their PR and social media skills.”
