Waymark's rapid expansion continues

AN ambitious regional software house has expanded its workforce by a third – and more recruits are set to join the growing team.

Seven new members of staff have joined the Gateshead-based Waymark team since January and two more are on their way.

The new recruits have helped form new sales, business development and marketing teams at the company.

Waymark Commercial Development Director Paul Lofthouse explained: “The new appointments are part of our ambitious strategy of expansion and although we’ve taken on seven new people this year, we are in the process of recruiting two further members of the team – business development managers for Scotland and Yorkshire.

“It’s a really exciting time for Waymark. We know we have some terrific products, particularly our Wayforce and StoresMate software, so our mission now is to spread the word about how these products can help transform and improve companies.”

Waymark MD David Brophy added; “Our aim is to be one of the top three software houses in the region with a turn-over of £5m within the next four years. The business is expanding – as is our workforce - at the rate we envisaged and planned for.”

The two latest recruits are sales executive Emily Ling and business analyst Claire Mackie.

Emily, from Newcastle, has joined from recruitment company Hamilton Bell where she specialized in Oracle, SAP and Salesforce recruitment across the UK and Europe.

Claire, from Whitley Bay, has joined Waymark from Sage, where she worked as a business analyst for 13 years. She previously worked at Northern Rock.

Emily will focus on selling Waymark’s software development services, primarily to SMEs who would like to work more efficiently, improve business processes and ultimately be more profitable.

In her new role, Claire will concentrate on defining clients’ requirements and ensuring Wayforce customers use the system for the maximum benefit of their business as well as working with Waymark’s software developers to further refine the product to customers’ eeds.

Nicola Jones, Waymark’s recently-appointed Marketing Manager, added: “Emily and Claire bring with them vast experience and knowledge in their fields of expertise and we’re sure both will play important roles in the continuing expansion of the company.

“Increasing the size of our sales team was important, but the appointment of business analysts and business development managers will really take us to the next level. We know we have some game-changing IT solutions and we need to make a wider audience aware of what we can do.”

As well as Wayforce, another Waymark product attracting wide attention is StoresMate, a solution designed to save costs and increase efficiencies around tool management on construction projects. StoresMate is being developed in a joint venture with Teesside IT company Project Control Tools.

Waymark has offices in Gateshead and Sunderland and was set up seven years ago, developing software for utility services. It has since expanded into the education, health, logistics and commercial sectors, working with more than 30 clients. Last year the company won the Creative Industries Award at the prestigious Northern Lights Awards.

Last year the company moved to new offices in Derwent Point, Swalwell after outgrowing its original premises.
