Bus Operator Introduces Night Buses In Newcastle Following Customer Feedback

A new night time bus service introduced by Stagecoach North East across Newcastle has been welcomed by Councillor Arlene Ainsley, the Cabinet Member for Transport and Air Quality at Newcastle City Council.

The night service, which operates every Friday and Saturday night until around 3am, was praised by Cllr Ainsley who said “The Newcastle night buses are an excellent addition to Newcastle’s thriving night-time economy.”

“I am delighted that, after listening to customers, Stagecoach North East have introduced a service that gives residents another option for getting home safely after enjoying a night out in our city.”

Stagecoach North East introduced the late night bus service after customer feedback and is delighted to provide an alternative and cheaper travel service to help Newcastle residents and visitors save money on taxi fares.

Steve Walker, Managing Director, Stagecoach North East, said: “We have listened and responded to customer feedback in relation to night services around Newcastle.

“Newcastle is an extremely popular city with a thriving restaurant, entertainment and nightlife scene and our new night service will provide affordable and frequent travel to further boost the night time economy and the city’s reputation as a great night out.

“With so many people working varying shift patterns and enjoying evenings in the city centre, this service is designed to support customers seeking value for money travel in the early hours of the weekend.”

Customers can travel all night with the new nightrider ticket, which can be purchased from the driver any time on Friday or Saturday and will remain valid until the last bus home.

Services include N1, N30, N39, N40 and N88, from Pilgrim Street and Blackett Street in the city centre to various corners of the city, including Jesmond, Kenton, Heaton, Walker, Byker, West Denton, Newbiggin Hall and Westerhope.
