BATHGATE HOUSEBUILDER SUPPORTS THE THISTLE WING AND ANNEXE

An assisted learning provision of Falkirk’s largest Primary School has received funding to pay for specialist outdoor play equipment, thanks to a Scottish house builder. Kinnaird Primary School’s The Thistle Wing and Annexe has been granted £500 by Persimmon Homes East Scotland, allowing them to create an outdoor environment suitable for children with severe and complex needs. Shona McMonagle, Principal Teacher at The Thistle Wing and Annexe, said: “The money donated by Persimmon will make a big difference to the educational experience of the pupils and help them to experience the outdoors in a safe and positive way. “Our pupils require a high level of support with all aspects of their daily life. Money raised will help to create an outdoor sensory area to help them explore the world around them.” The Thistle Wing supports 49 primary aged children in nine classes across two sites and has additional areas of learning including a sensory room and multi-use area. Jim Kirkpatrick, managing director at Persimmon Homes East Scotland, said: “We are delighted to donate this money to Kinnaird Primary School’s, The Thistle Wing and Annexe. The growth the service has experienced is evidence that it is in great demand and we wanted to give them a helping hand.” “Being just ‘a stone’s throw’ away from our Persimmon Homes Willow Wood development and our sister brands Charles Church’s development, Kinnaird Park, we felt that supporting The Thistle Wing and Annexe had the additional benefit of directly benefiting families living in our homes, as well as the wider community.” Groups and charities are invited to apply for match funding of up to £1,000 by completing a simple application form online.
