Leap of faith by lighter lawyer

A leading licensing lawyer has lost almost a stone in weight as he prepares to leap out of a plane in the name of charity.

Peter Adkins, director of regulatory services at law firm Emms Gilmore Liberson, is set to take part in a tandem skydive on behalf of Primrose Hospice.

The daredevil lawyer will be joined by his daughter, Hannah Adkins, as the duo embark upon separate skydives from 15,000 feet this Saturday, October 6th. He hopes to raise more than £500 for the hospice.

Peter said: “Apart from jumping out of an airplane to raise money, I’ve had to lose over a stone in weight to reach the maximum weight limit. I’ve lost pounds, so I’m hoping that friends and colleagues can donate a few pounds in return!

“The challenge will be great fun, if a little nerve wracking, and it’s for a great cause. Primrose Hospice provides such important care for people and does so entirely for free – it is a pleasure to raise money on its behalf.”

It is the latest charitable exploit for the lawyer, better known for acting on behalf of the owners of licensed premises including pubs, hotels, restaurants, cinemas, theatres, casinos and other gambling establishments.

Next month Peter Adkins will host the annual Midlands festive networking event, Santa Crawl, with colleagues from Rhino Interiors and The Marketing Engineer, raising funds for homeless charity, St. Basils.

Anna Wilson, fundraiser at Primrose Hospice, said: ’We are thrilled that Peter and his daughter Hannah have chosen to support us. This year alone, individuals and local businesses have raised over £15,000 by parachuting for Primrose which is amazing!“

Primrose Hospice is an independent charity that provides support to people with life limiting illnesses and their families. Each year the charity supports almost 1,000 people living in the Midlands region, from its day hospice in Bromsgrove. It relies solely on donations to fund the £1.7 million per year required to provide its services free of charge.

Peter Adkins is a commercial litigation and dispute resolution lawyer. He runs a successful networking event – known as Cherrypick – in Birmingham and London and features in the Legal 500 for his expertise in Regulatory, Licensing and Gambling Law.
