Peace and Loaf are announced as finalist in the Food Awards England, simultaneously qualifying for the Michelin Guide 2019 in the same week.

Jesmond based restaurant, Peace and Loaf, are given a mention in the renowned Michelin Guide 2019, for the fourth year in a row. The announcement comes just days after the fine dining restaurant was named as a finalist for Restaurant of the Year North East in the Food Awards England 2018.

The restaurant received its first mention in the Michelin guide, which has been hailed as “The Oscars of the food industry”, in 2014 only 11 months after its launch in Newcastle. Since then, the Peace and Loaf team, including Chef Patron Dave Coulson, have worked tirelessly to maintain their accolade.

Dave, well renowned throughout the North East for his culinary talent, featured on BBC Two’s Great British Menu during the summer, impressing North East viewers with his creative dishes inspired by 70 years of the NHS.

Coulson told us: “We’ve made a lot of changes this year to the business, however we have always had our customers at the forefront of any decisions we’ve made. The team here work tirelessly to ensure that we’re on top of our game, so it’s an absolute honour to be recognised twice in one week.”

As well as a regular in the Michelin Guide, Peace and Loaf are no strangers to the Food Awards England. This year marks the fifth annual Food Awards England. Having won the “Restaurant of the Year North East” category two years running in 2016 and 2017; they are well on their way to making it a triple.

The award winners are set to be announced on the 15th October at a ceremony taking place in the Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel.

Coulson concluded: “We’re looking forward to the awards in Manchester, but most of all, we’re looking forward to bringing an award home to the North East. That would absolutely be the icing on the cake.”
