Housing association measures up to the big names in award success
The finance team in Housing Plus Group – which includes South Staffordshire Housing Association and Severnside Housing - is celebrating awards shortlisting which sees them measuring up against some of the biggest names in business.
The team has been shortlisted in two categories of the West Midlands Finance Awards. As a finalist for the Team of the Year title, the team is competing against Volvo and McDonald’s restaurants, along with West Midlands Trains and Cadent Gas.
Recognition has come at the double for the team, which is also among the finalists for the Not for Profit award.
“This year’s shortlist demonstrates the hard work, dedication and passion of finance professionals across the West Midlands,” said a spokesperson for award sponsors Robert Walters. “We received an astounding number of applicants for each category, with an exceptionally high quality of talent.”
Written nominations were whittled down to a shortlist of organisations invited to an interview with the judges. Finance director Philip Ingle, along with assistant director Viki Whibley and head of finance Ben Thomas attended that meeting.
“I am delighted to see the team recognised in this way,” said Philip Ingle. “The Housing Plus Group finance team was one of the first joint operational teams established following our merger and overcame huge challenge to complete year-end accounts and undergo a full financial audit within weeks of the introduction of a new structure, reporting tools and financial systems.
“The team provided a seamless service that has been the foundation for a strong business focused on customers, communities and homes.”
The award winners will be announced on Thursday 15th November at the ICC in Birmingham.
