North East innovators to exhibit at upcoming VentureFest showcase
Wearable tech and smart healthcare are two of the themes set to be explored by innovators at this year’s VentureFest North East.
Selected startups will demonstrate their innovations to an audience of business leaders, investors, experts and academics as part of the event’s Innovation Showcase.
VentureFest worked with the Sunderland-based North East BIC over the summer to uncover new products and game-changing ideas from companies in the region.
Northumberland-based Evolto is among the winners. The firm has created an environmental monitor that collects river flow data to strengthen flood-warning systems.
Also included are North Shields company Soficus and Washington-based Shoes2Run. Both have used AI to develop products aimed at improving health and well-being.
The other startups are: BMS Home LTD; ClimbAX; Coffee with Baby; Equiwatt; LightOx; Luminous; One Unite Partnership; Podfo; TL Multimedia; TSG Marine; and Wordnerd.
North East BIC innovation manager Elizabeth Shaw said: “The Innovation Showcase is the ideal platform to shout about the great ideas coming out of regional businesses.
“Innovation is at the heart of many North East companies, but we need to do more to celebrate these achievements and I’m excited we’ve been able shine a spotlight on 14 truly fantastic products and services.”
VentureFest North East is delivered by Innovation SuperNetwork.
Estelle Blanks, the network’s executive director, commented: “Showcase applications were particularly strong this year and I feel we have a good and diverse line-up of ideas on offer. I’m sure delegates will enjoy choosing their favourites on the day.”
The event will be held at St James’ Park, Newcastle on place on November 14.
