Online fitness startup expands at London’s Here East tech campus

Online fitness company Fiit is expanding in the Here East tech hub at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The firm has signed a deal to relocate its 30-strong team to a 4,800 sq ft studio at the campus’ Press Centre.

Fiit uses data science and smart technology to provide a boutique fitness experience for customers in their own living rooms.

Set up by a team of former Google employees and founders of software business Qubit, it is working to shake up the traditional fitness industry model by offering on-demand classes on customers’ TVs and mobiles devices.

Fiit moved to Here East in September last year, utilising the campus’ Plexal innovation centre to scale up.

The company originally occupied a temporary space at the Broadcast Centre and has since experienced rapid growth. In just over a year, Fiit’s team has expanded from three to 30 employees.

Fiit co-founder Ian McCaig said: “The move to Here East marks an exciting standpoint for Fiit. We are building, what we believe is the Future of Fitness.

“The ability to have access to the first-class facilities available at Here East will allow us to continue to attract and maintain the best talent within the fitness industry.”

He continued: “Here East is the perfect place for us to continue to grow the Fiit brand, housed within The Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, a legacy within itself we are hoping to inspire consumers to achieve their fitness goals just GB Olympic team did in 2012.”

Here East CEO Gavin Poole commented: “Fiit is a perfect example of what Here East can offer technology companies.

“They came to us as a small startup looking for affordable office space where they could collaborate and innovate with like-minded companies, and Plexal Innovation Centre offered this perfect environment for them to flourish.”

He added: “Now, as a team of 30, we are delighted that they have chosen to continue their journey with us and remain an integral part of the community. We look forward to seeing what’s next for them.”

Here East was developed by iCITY, a company owned by the DV4 fund at property investment firm Delancey.
