Praise for Partnership with National Awards Shortlist
Hull City-Wide Developer Partnership is a long-term, strategic partnership between Hull City Council (HCC) and the KHSP consortium comprising Strata, Keepmoat Homes, Home Group and Priority Space that has proven collaboration can deliver results with a shortlisted entry in the Partnership category of the Inside Housing Development Awards.
Working collaboratively, the Hull City-Wide Partnership seeks to deliver 4,000 homes levering in £500m private investment over a 13-year period. It places emphasis on social and economic benefit through job creation, training opportunities, apprenticeships and working with local communities.
One of Hull’s largest regeneration programmes, the collaboration focuses on three key principles; land brought forward by HCC, financial capacity from KSHP and resource provided by the wider partnership.
Critical to overcome many of Hull’s housing development constraints, the consortium is on site delivering 1,173 new homes in the Preston Road and Wawne View areas of the city and will progress additional sites in the years to come.
Chairman of Homes England, Sir Edward Lister, comments: “The Wawne Road scheme in Hull is the result of a strong collaborative approach between all in the partnership and it brings together local expertise and national approaches to housing and development. This has enabled innovation and driven regeneration in the city.”
Hull City Council Portfolio Holder for Housing, Cllr John Black, comments: “It’s great news reaching the shortlist for such a sought-after award. This achievement is testament to the strength of our city-wide partnership, which is a major factor in enabling the Council to undertake its most ambitious housing renewal programme for a generation.
“The success of the Council’s partnerships with developers means we can respond to the undersupply of quality, affordable homes for sale and rent in the city, and have bucked the national trend by not only meeting but exceeding the targets set for building affordable homes.”
Chief Executive of Strata, Andrew Weaver, comments: “We are very pleased to announce that we have been shortlisted in the partnership category of the Inside Housing Development Awards.
“The Hull City-Wide Developer Partnership is a great example of how collaboration can work in practice. Not only are we working together to overcome challenges, but most importantly we are delivering homes that extend the strong communities that already exist in East Yorkshire.”
Regional Managing Director of Keepmoat Homes, Chris Penn, comments: “We are delighted to be part of this fantastic partnership which has helped deliver Hull’s housing growth and regeneration programmes.
“Alongside new homes, the partnership has placed an emphasis on social and economic benefit through job creation, training opportunities, apprenticeships and working with local communities which is at the core of our approach.”
The national awards, which take place at The Brewery in London on Thursday 29 November, will welcome landlords, developers and architects from across the country that have submitted entries to 14 categories.
Judged by an independent panel of experts, the winners will be announced on the night, giving recognition to the developments and teams from across the UK that stand-out from their peers.
