Scotland and disability in the spotlight

According to University of St Andrew, about 50% of disabled people of working age are in work compared to 80% of non-disabled people of working age in Scotland.

Business Disability Forum will addressing the issues around this – and more – at this year’s conference with the theme: Disability in Scotland – exploring identity and will be held on 11 December 2018, hosted by Royal Bank of Scotland.

The conference will take place at Royal Bank of Scotland’s Gogarburn Headquarters in Edinburgh, looking at all aspects of identity and disability with the following topics and more:

The people behind the job title

Business Disability Forum’s podcast series “Who are we? The people behind the job title” will be brought to life on the stage. Disabled people from all walks of life from a computer scientist at Edinburgh University to senior managers at Network Rail and Royal Bank of Scotland will be talking to us about their own experiences of disability and identity.

Fresh from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival

Steve Day will bring his successful Edinburgh Fringe show to the conference stage. Identity and citizenship

The day will look further into the theme of identity to consider the role of disabled people in society more broadly.

Finally, to close the day Dr Caroline Casey, Founder of Binc. will speak about her own remarkable life and work with Business Disability Forum CEO, Diane Lightfoot.

Places at this event are offered complimentary to all delegates and early booking is recommended.
