Cineworld to launch North East’s first 4K ‘Superscreen’ in Newcastle
Cineworld has announced plans to bring its Superscreen offering to the North East.
The company will introduce the system, which uses a state-of-the-art projection and sound system to enhance the cinema-going experience, at Cineworld Newcastle later this month.
Superscreen features wall-to-wall, ceiling-high screens and dual 4K projectors to give a brighter 3D experience, along with Dolby Atmos technology and dozens of speakers to provide multidimensional sound.
Located at The Gate leisure and entertainment centre, Cineworld’s 2,742-seat Newcastle cinema already features 16 screens and a Starbucks due to open in December.

The Superscreen auditorium will seat 396 people and be the first in the North East.
Cineworld Newcastle general manager John Hodgson said: “We always look at the latest innovations in technology.
“Now with Superscreen at Cineworld Newcastle, we can give cinema-goers more choice in how they enjoy a movie.”
He added: “Plus the upcoming Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, is the perfect film for opening the Superscreen with.”
