Carter Towler secures 'nostalgic' property management deal in Leeds

Carter Towler has just agreed a deal to manage the company’s former offices on Great George Street, Leeds.

Acting on behalf of the owner of 35-41 Great George Street, Treadwell Developments, Carter Towler will take responsibility for three retail units on the ground floor of the Grade II-listed property.

Carter Towler’s director, Tim Towler, said: “We are delighted to be managing these units for a number of reasons; Treadwell Developments is a great client to work with, architecturally it’s a fine building and holds many good memories for us as a company.

“BP Towler, the business my grandfather started, was based in this building for 20 years. We moved out 23 years ago into 1 St Mark’s Avenue opposite Leeds University before relocating to our current offices in Queen Street at the time of our merger with Carter & Co in 2008.

“In those early days we had just five people looking after around 400 properties. We are now one of the largest property management organisations outside of London.”

Carter Towler has 25 people in its property management division; it has 250 clients and is responsible for over 3,000 offices, shops, industrial units and residential lettings across the country.

It recently appointed three new staff specialising in compliance, service charge and credit management.

Treadwell Developments’ director, John Wright, added: “We have a well-established working relationship with Carter Towler; my father first appointed them to look after a property he owned back in 1979.

“They now deal with all the lease renewals, rent reviews, collections and maintenance across our commercial property portfolio and it seems entirely fitting that they should be back in charge at Great George Street, they know this property very well indeed!”
