Partnership Between Major US Healthcare Technology Companies Will Bring a New Level of Security to UK Healthcare
Imprivata, the healthcare IT security company, has announced a collaboration with Howard Medical to extend the availability of Imprivata Medical Device Access - streamlined, secure authentication to medical devices for clinical users - to select medical storage carts. The medical carts are sold exclusively in the UK and Ireland by Manchester-based technology solutions provider Distec.
This new partnership will bring with it a brand new level of security for healthcare trusts and professionals across the UK. With Imprivata Medical Device Access integrated directly into Distec-provided E-series of Howard Medical’s advanced medical carts, healthcare organisations can enforce stronger access control protocols through the use of a proximity badge tap. This capability provides consistent functionality across multiple platforms and is available for use with varying computer vendors on the carts.
“In today’s complex Internet of Medical Things, healthcare organizations are faced with the challenge of protecting the security and integrity of the information stored on and transmitted through medical devices without impeding on clinical productivity,” said Carina Edwards, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Imprivata. “By partnering with Howard Medical, we’re pleased to give our joint customers the ability to implement and enforce the security of sensitive workflows performed on medical storage carts, without affecting clinical workflows.”
“We’re excited to partner with Imprivata and integrate the leading identification solution in healthcare today for securely accessing our cart storage,” said Brian Swistak, VP of Sales at Howard Medical. “We view the integration as another milestone in our continued efforts to partner with the right innovative companies to provide increased customer benefits, as we redefine healthcare technology with patient engagement.”
Adrian Swindells, Director of Distec added: “The collaborative partnership between Howard Medical and Imprivata means that our customers will be able to deliver trusted, high-quality care in a safe and secure manner, while improving productivity and the patient experience”
