Future Good: How Will Disruptive Technology Change Philanthropy?

Technology is transforming the way we live and work, and has brought us to the brink of a ’Fourth Industrial Revolution’. What impact will disruptive technologies like AI and blockchain have on philanthropy and giving? How can we grasp the opportunities they offer while overcoming any challenges?

Join Rhodri Davies, author and recognised expert on philanthropy and technology for giving, as he discusses these fascinating developments.

The free event takes place at Sunderland Software City on Friday 16 November 2018, and is part of the GeNErosity Festival of Philanthropy and Giving. The Festival will tell the story of philanthropy in North East England, past, present and future, through events, roadshows and cultural activities across the region. The Festival is brought to you in partnership by the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland and Newcastle University. It will run until 27 November 2018, so there is still plenty of time to take part!

Sandra King, Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Community Foundation, said: “The GeNErosity Festival of Philanthropy and Giving in the North East is a fantastic showcase for our region. But it isn’t only about celebrating the past – it’s also about influencing the future of philanthropy and looking at how that philanthropy will be delivered. Technology has already enabled more of us to be philanthropists by giving via online giving portals, smartphones and, crowdfunding so what will new technological developments allow more of us to do? I’m lookin forward t Rhodri giving us a glimpse.”

Changes to our society and developments in technology are transforming the nature of many of the challenges we face, whilst at the same time offering new ways of addressing them.

Join us on 16 November to celebrate the generosity of people in our region, but also to question how technology will play a part in the future of doing good.

The event is free but registration is essential, for more information visit: https://www.generosityfestival.co.uk/festival/future-good-how-will-disruptive-technology-change-philanthropy-rhodri-davies
