It's All Change at Crewe

It’s not just at Crewe’s famous train station where you can change for a new destination; it’s also possible at Crewe Audi part of the town’s family owned Swansway Motor Group.

Crewe Audi Head of Business, John Doorbar, has stepped down to take some well-deserved relaxation time and the centre has promoted four people, showing how committed the business is to growing its own talent and promoting from within.

Swansway Motor Group Director, Peter Smyth, commented, “Our aim is to produce home-grown talent, to support everyone in our team to reach their full potential and the fact that we’ve been able to do this, with four separate team members from within Crewe Audi, shows the wealth of talented people we have”.

“Being a family-owned and run business allows us the flexibility to promote staff when they’re ready, not when they’ve reached the appropriate grade and I’m absolutely delighted for all four of the team at Crewe Audi that they have the opportunity to fulfil their potential with a new and exciting role within our business. Congratulations to them all”, added Peter.

John Oakley, who has been with Swansway since the business was founded, in 2003, moves from Aftersales Manager to Head of Business; Ryan Shorter, with Swansway for 4 years, moves from Assistant Aftersales Manager to Aftersales Manager; Natalie Wright, moves from Senior Service Advisor to Assistant Aftersales Manager and John Buckley, with Swansway 15 years moves from Used Car Sales Manager to General Sales Manager.

A delighted John Buckley commented, “I started as a Service Advisor at Crewe Volkswagen 15 years ago, moving to become a Trainee Sales Executive at Crewe SEAT, I was then a Senior Sales Executive, then Business Manager and finally Sales Manager before moving to the same role at Swansway Peugeot in Chester.”

“I’m a Sandbach lad, born and bred, so came back closer to home, to Crewe Audi as Used Car Sales Manager and I’m delighted to have been promoted to General Sales Manager. I’m only 34 and in this day and age it’s quite unusual for someone my age to have worked for the same company for 15 years, but I’ve been given all the opportunities I wanted at Swansway and have been lucky to be able to further my career within the ’family”.

Leading the team will be John Oakley, who commented, “Having worked at Crewe Audi for 16 years I’m absolutely delighted to have been given the opportunity to lead, what I know is a fantastic team; it’s great to know that the directors have faith in my ability and have given me this brilliant opportunity”.
