Ossett Brewery opens new craft beer concept in Leeds city centre

Acting on behalf of Ossett Brewery, CBRE Leeds’ specialist markets team has advised on the acquisition of a unit at 26 East Parade in Leeds city centre.

The property is being transformed into a new craft beer and gin concept under the Craft Asylum brand.

Ossett Brewery has acquired the new unit to extend its Salt beer brand through two craft centred venues - the first Craft Asylum bar launched in the venue formerly known as Candlebar in Granary Wharf last Friday (November 16).

The second Craft Asylum at 26 East Parade, Leeds, just off Greek Street, will open its doors on Friday November 30.

Sam Potrykus, senior surveyor for the specialist markets team in Leeds, said: “We are delighted to confirm the deal on 26 East Parade for Ossett Brewery.

“Craft Asylum will be ideally situated fronting the rejuvenated Greek Street area, home to many of the high end bars and restaurants in Leeds.

“Yorkshire may be the spiritual home of the traditional English bitter, but the craft beer scene has a huge following throughout the UK and is growing in popularity year on year.

“We think Craft Asylum will give a real boost to the bar scene along East Parade and Greek Street.”

Craft Asylum is a concept set to showcase modern beers from Salt and guest breweries.

Salt is a micro-brewery and brews many beers in keg, can and cask formats, including IPAs, NEIPAs, stouts and lagers.

The taproom will feature brewery tours, a DJ booth, touring bands, comedy nights, viewing mezzanines, a gift shop and wood-fired pizza.

Jamie Lawson, owner of Ossett Brewery, added: “The vision for Salt has been three years in the making, a concept that began with an idea to brew some beer at the back of the Hop in Saltaire, has now evolved into something much greater than we could have ever imagined.

“The vision has now extended beyond the brewery as we aim to showcase the best in craft beers and gin, in a modern pub environment.”

Will Hepplewhite at Pudney Shuttleworth advised the vendor.
