DEVELOPERS AGREE DEAL FOR NEW HOMES IN WELLS

Two leading housebuilders will work together on a major development bringing 220 new homes to Haybridge.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley will work in partnership to deliver the development at land immediately west of the existing urban edge at Wells.

The companies have jointly purchased the land which has outline planning consent for a full range of houses, from two to five-bedrooms, with designated affordable housing.

The investment from Persimmon will transform the existing site and is set to create a healthy community for new and existing residents, while providing much-needed housing to the area.

Steve Roche, managing director for Persimmon Homes Severn Valley, said: “This is an exciting development that is set to breathe economic life into the area and lay the foundations for a thriving new community.

“The building of new homes is crucial to economic growth. Increased population and consequently expenditure helps strengthen the futures of many local businesses, as well as generating revenues for local authorities.

“The proposed new development will contribute positively to the sustainable economic growth of the local area.

“Our plans include homes to suit a range of buyers, from those looking to get on the property ladder for the first time to families seeking more space as they grow.”

The 220 new homes will support more than 940 jobs, including direct staff, contractors and the wider supplier network.

Persimmon Homes Severn Valley recently purchased the land with outline planning permission for the new homes. Plans also include large areas of public open space, new vehicle access via the A371 and pedestrian links, as well as associated infrastructure and highways improvements. A Reserved Matters application will be submitted shortly with construction forecast to begin mid-2019.
