Sheffield coffee company Cafeology invests £250k in state-of-the art roastery
Sheffield coffee company Cafeology is investing £250k in its business-to-business coffee roasting and blending service, Roastology.
The ethical importer, roaster and distributor will create three jobs with the launch of its state-of-the art roastery, which features a giant Diedrich roaster worth £110k and a coffee ‘laboratory’ providing masterclasses and team-building events for the public.
Cafeology’s new facility also includes a fully equipped barista training academy, which is set to be the only one in South Yorkshire to secure accreditation for excellence from the Specialty Coffee Association.
The solar-powered facility was developed on former brownfield land at Cafeology’s new 10,000 sq ft distribution centre on Vantage Riverside Business Park, near Meadowhall in Rotherham. It was created with backing from the European Regional Development Fund.
Following the site’s launch next month (December 6), Cafeology will continue to operate from its based on Sheffield’s Acorn Business Park.
Managing director Bryan Unkles, who founded Cafeology with business partner Andy McClatchey, said: “We have stayed true to our values of quality, ethical sourcing, full traceability and Yorkshire roots and poured our years of experience into our artisan service, Roastology.
“It has taken off at an unprecedented rate in just two years. Investing in a new site and the latest equipment is proof of our commitment to further expansion.”
He added: “We now have 16 staff and will be creating more jobs on that journey.”
Cafeology was founded in 2003 and today turns over £4m annually.
