Work begins on £1m office building redevelopment in Bradford
Leeds-based Priestley Homes has started work on the redevelopment of a former office building in Bradford, with plans to create a mix of residential and commercial space.
The work will add 31 new studio apartments to the local property market, as well as a ground floor space set aside for businesses. It’s expected to cost £1m to transform the 4,257 sq. ft building, which is located on James Street in the city centre.
According to the project’s developer, Priestley Homes – part of the Priestley Group – the renovation works will combine the building’s original features with some more modern details. It says the apartments will be finished to the “highest specification”, with prices starting at £49,995.
Nathan Priestley, CEO of the Priestley Group, said of the project: “Bradford city centre is subject to major regeneration plans and there is an increasing demand for sophisticated, city-centre living among young professionals and first-time buyers. We are keen to meet this need to drive greater levels of talent and investment into the area.
“James Street Apartments has been planned, designed and constructed in-house. The scheme is the latest in a long run of high specification homes that we’ve created in Bradford, and we’re thrilled to add another development to the local market.”
The scheme is scheduled for completion in early 2019, and is one of a number of projects being worked on by the Priestley Group in Bradford; the company is undertaking similar work on a Conditioning House, a Grade II-listed building on Cape Street.
