Grade II-listed mill in ‘key Leeds suburb’ transformed into apartments

A Grade II-listed former mill in North Leeds has been transformed into student homes.

Building firm Priestley Construction, the company behind the £2m project, has redeveloped Rivermill Court in Kirkstall into 27 apartments.

Work on the scheme started in March 2018 and included stripping out all internal structures. Priestley then built new floors and walls to create a mix of one- and two-bed apartments, self-contained studios and deluxe mezzanine studios.

Developer Priestley Homes is now marketing Rivermill Court for sale to buy-to-let investors in the student accommodation sector.

The scheme is already 85% sold, with three two-bed apartments and one duplex remaining.

Rivermill Court was originally built to accommodate a mill and was most recently occupied by a design academy.

Nathan Priestley, CEO of the Priestley Group, said: “With the recent announcement that Channel 4 will be relocating its headquarters to Leeds, the city continues to attract major inward investment resulting in increasing demand for sophisticated, city centre living.

“Complementing our expansive portfolio of developments right across the North, Rivermill Court brings much needed, high quality, contemporary homes to a key suburb in Leeds. Interest to date in these new homes demonstrates how sought-after the city is.”

He added: “The highly skilled team at Priestley Construction delivered this scheme within in seven months, a fantastic achievement by everyone involved that enabled us to bring these homes to market as quickly as possible.”
