Nuffield Health named Private Hospital Group of the Year

Nuffield Health picked up the award for Private Hospital Group of the Year, for a second year, at the LaingBuisson Awards 2018. The award celebrates high quality care and continuous improvement, as well as innovation and excellence in going above and beyond.

With a network of 31 hospitals across the UK, including two in the North East at Newcastle and Stockton-on-Tees, Nuffield Health has concentrated on enhancing patient satisfaction and quality care across the organisation. In 2016, one of its hospitals – the Nuffield Health Cambridge – became the first independent hospital to receive the highest possible rating of excellence with an ‘Outstanding’ rating from the regulator the Care Quality Commission (CQC). In 2017 Nuffield Health Leeds Hospital and Nuffield Health Tees Hospital also received an ‘Outstanding’ CQC rating. To date 94% of Nuffield Health hospitals reviewed by regulators have achieved a rating of good or outstanding.

In accepting the award, Martin Friend, Chief Operations Officer at Nuffield Health, said “Nuffield Health is delighted to receive the Private Hospital Group of the Year for the second time. It is an honour to be recognised for two years in a row and is testament to our hardworking and dedicated teams across our hospitals, who day to day ensure our patients’ needs are their priority.”

Matthew Lamb, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital, commented:

“As a not-for-profit organisation, Nuffield Health is continuously investing in new resources and procedures within its hospitals to ensure that we are always expanding our service offer to patients.

“Winning the LaingBuisson Hospital Group of the Year Award for a second year running is testament to the success of these continuous improvements and the hard work and dedication of our staff and consultants.”

Lesley Lock, Hospital Director at Nuffield Health Tees Hospital, added:

“Receiving the Private Hospital Group of the Year Award for a second time is a fantastic achievement for Nuffield Health.

“Nuffield Health Tees Hospital is one of only three hospitals within the group to have been awarded ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC and we are delighted that our dedication to outstanding patient care was one of the criteria recognised by the judges in awarding this accolade to us.

“Looking to the future, we hope to build on this success by continuously expanding our services to patients.”

Nuffield Health was selected from a finalist group of seven private hospital groups within the UK. The finalists included a mixture of not-for-profit, privately owned and publicly listed organisations.
