Ross Harper crowned New Entrepreneur Of The Year at National Business Awards
Ross Harper, founder and CEO of London-based Limbic AI, has been presented with the prestigious Duke of York New Entrepreneur of the Year Award at Lloyds Bank National Business Awards.
The New Entrepreneur of the Year award celebrates the potential that exists within leaders of the UK’s most promising start-ups and SMEs. Set up just 13 months ago, Limbic AI is a team of scientists and software engineers seeking to understand the neuroscience of emotion.
“We understand that intelligence goes beyond IQ,” they say. “And, for the first time, we enable developers to quantify how their users really feel. Emotions exist in a part of the brain called the ‘limbic system’. Changes here are linked to changes in heartbeat. Applying machine learning to biometric data collected by wearable devices, Limbic infers the emotional state of the user allowing apps to become ’emotionally intelligent; for the first time.”
After winning the award, Harper said: “It’s nice for the company I’ve built over the last year to have some recognition: onwards and upwards.” When asked for his advice to other entrepreneurs, he added: “Give it a go, and surround yourself by people you trust.”
