Festive Focus series: Bdaily chats to O Communication's Kari Owers

To mark the start of the festive season - we know it’s still early days but December is tomorrow, okay? - we’ve decided to run a Festive Focus series, chatting to top businesspeople in Bdaily’s key regions: North East, London and Yorkshire.

We aim to find out how our regions’ businesses have succeeded in 2018, to discuss snippets of their greatest achievements, and to see what their plans are for the new year and beyond.

So to kick things off in the North East, we got in touch with O Communications’ Kari Owers.

Can you introduce yourself and your business to our readers?

“O is a creative communications agency that specialises in brand storytelling, whether that’s through an experiential event, traditional media, social or digital channels.

“I am the founder and managing director, and have been in the creative industry for over 20 years.”

What was your company’s biggest achievement of the year?

“This year, we bought our own place at Old Brewery Court in Jesmond, and we have been refurbishing the old Georgian building into a creative environment to allow the company room for growth.”

How would you approach 2018 differently, given the chance?

“I would have walked to work more - thinking time is vital when you are in a creative job and running a business!”

What are your company’s plans for the new year?

“2019 looks very promising as our client list has grown solidly in the last quarter of 2018, so we will be recruiting more creative talent and hopefully just enjoying our new space together.

“As we have a new inspiration zone on our ground floor, we will be hosting a series of events for local marketing teams and company owners to help them embrace new trends in creative communications and hear from a range of experts.”

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

“Fairytale of New York by The Pogues & Kirsty McColl.”

Look out for more local businesspeople appearing in our Festive Focus series soon.
