A Room With a View at Galton Lock

When looking for a property, most homebuyers look for three key things; location, comfort and size. For one lucky couple they found all three at Countryside’s Galton Lock development. With a living room overlooking the banks of the Smethwick Canal, this was the perfect place for Alex and Matt to call home.

Surrounded by a number of parks, it was the location that attracted Alex Moulton (32) and her fiance, Matt Priest (28) to Galton Lock, but the view from the juliette balcony in the Tamar home sealed the deal.

Alex commented: “When we started looking originally we went to Countryside’s Regis Park development but as that was sold out, they recommended Galton Lock. I first saw the canal and loved it! I just knew this was where I wanted to live.

“The layout of the Tamar with the living room on the first floor means we have a great view over the canal and I love how the balcony windows really open up the room and allow us to see more of our beautiful surroundings.”

The Tamar is a three-storey home featuring four bedrooms and juliette balconies in the living room and master bedroom. The unique layout of the home provides the space Alex and Matt were looking for.

Alex continued: “We bought the Tamar off plan as the showhome had not been built when we went to view the development. After seeing the plans we knew it would be spacious but when we saw our home complete, it really exceeded expectations. The specification was also to a higher level than we expected, with luxury features included. Our home has been built to an impeccable standard right down to the garden and driveway that can fit almost five cars.”

First time buyers Alex and Matt used the government’s 5% deposit Help to Buy scheme to make it more affordable for them to buy their dream property. Being able to move in to their new home just six months after they started househunting, the easy access to Birmingham, the motorway and being halfway between Alex and Matthew’s workplaces made Galton Lock the perfect place to buy their first home.

Alex added: “We had both been saving in a Help to Buy ISA for a couple of years and as we both had one, it meant we were able to save what we needed in half the amount of time. The sales team were really friendly and helpful, and buying our home through Help to Buy meant we could buy the home we really wanted, with the views we love.”

Joanne Bradbury, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at Countryside said: “Galton Lock is a beautiful development and the view from the homes over the canal has been a huge attraction for our buyers. The Tamar in particular really benefits from this as the juliette balconies allow our homeowners to really appreciate the stunning views and we are pleased to now have the Tamar showhome open so they can see first hand what we mean.

“It is fantastic to see our buyers getting the benefit of the Help to Buy scheme as it makes it so much easier for first time buyers, like Alex and Matt, to get onto the property ladder, which is why all our homes at Galton Lock are available to buy through the government’s initiative.”
