HOUSEBUILDER SUPPORTS STANFORD-LE-HOPE PRIMARY SCHOOL
A Stanford-le-Hope primary school has been awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes towards new screens for its school halls.
Arthur Bugler Primary School has been looking to raise £6,000 for new screens to replace old projectors and is still trying to meet its target.
The school was given the donation after applying for Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions scheme. The programme allows charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.
Lisa Tarbard, a member of Arthur Bugler PTA, said: “We are always looking to improve the facilities for pupils at the school. Our latest project over the summer, was the installation of new playground equipment for the Early Years children.
“Now we’re looking towards our next projects and we have two in mind. The first, which Persimmon’s donation will go towards, is for two large screens to replace the old-fashioned projectors in the school hall.
“Thanks to Persimmon Homes we’re one step closer to reaching our fundraising target.” Phil Standen, managing director, said: “We strongly believe in supporting the communities where we build. Therefore, we are delighted to be able to support Arthur Bugler Primary School in this way and help local youngsters strive to achieve their academic goals. Phil added that they receive many worthy applications every month and urged charities who had not been successful to apply again.
