New Whitley Bay HQ for web hosting firm Linux Internet
Web design and hosting company Linux Internet has announced plans to move its headquarters out of Newcastle.
The company, founded 21 years ago by managing director Darryn Clarke, is relocating from the city to Whitley Bay.
Linux Internet’s new base on Station Road is located streets away from the childhood home of its founder.
Darryn said: “I love my home town and was determined to be part of its revival.
“I think what they’ve done with the Spanish City inspired me, I saw the building looking in a bad way and felt that, just like The Dome, with a little bit of TLC this could be great.”
He continued: “When we set up only the city centre had enough network capacity and our clients wanted to come from around the country for face to face meetings.
“Now with video conferencing and 350mb fibre broadband in Whitley Bay we have been set free to bring our business home.”
Linux Internet designs and host websites for more than 700 clients ranging from dentists to music festivals.
Darryn added: “Whitley Bay is really lively right now with loads of people with great ideas about. It has so much untapped potential and we really want to be a part of the magic that makes it bear fruit.”
