Record year puts Gateshead construction services firm on track for £1.85m turnover

Construction services firm Shadbolt Group is celebrating its best year to date.

The Gateshead-based group is on track to generate a record turnover of £1.85m, rounding off a financial year that saw it take on a raft of new projects and open an office in the Midlands.

The company is currently working on a project to relocate the region’s largest bus operator, Go North East, from its historic Stanley depot to a new £3.5m state-of-the-art facility.

Shadbolt is also preparing to start on several new ventures in the new year, including two projects for developer Northumberland Estates – a new HQ for Hardy’s of Alnwick and a £4m care scheme in Backworth for people with early-onset dementia.

Outside the North East, the company is due to deliver a raft of large-scale residential and commercial developments in Nottinghamshire and Essex.

Shadbolt created four jobs with the launch of a new base in Corby, to accommodate the growing workload and better serve clients in the Midlands and South.

Shadbolt Group director Lee Butler said: “We’re incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to help shape such innovative and important ventures around the country, and we’re even prouder that these contributions are helping us grow to the point we’re experiencing our best ever year of trading.

“Our client focused approach has led to the group retaining in excess of 80% repeat business over the previous financial year.”

He continued: “In addition to our increase in staff to match the aspiration of Shadbolt Group’s growth strategy, we have been making significant inward investment in terms of rebranding, new website and refurbishment of the head office in Gateshead. I’m confident this investment will help us reach our next turnover target of £2m.”

Shadbolt employs a team of 26 and provides architectural, civil, structural, environmental and construction management services.

Northumberland Estates senior asset manager Michael O’Driscoll commented: “Shadbolt Group has worked on several projects over the last 10 years on our behalf and its multifaceted team is able to deliver a wide range of specialist services making them an invaluable partner.”
