Manchester Homeless Benefit from Horlicks Initiative
Rough sleepers, homeless and vulnerable people in Manchester have been enjoying regular warm, comforting mugs of Horlicks, thanks to a nationwide initiative by the nation’s favourite malted drink.
As part of the Horlicks ‘Gifting a Moment to Communities’ campaign, a very welcome 24 cases of Horlicks and a generous quantity mugs was donated to Barnabus, a Christian Homeless Charity and Drop-in situated in the heart of Manchester, just in time for the onset of chillier weather conditions.
Michelle Younger, Horlicks Marketing Manager explains: “As the cold temperatures set in, the plight of many who rely on shelters such as the remarkable Barnabus, become exasperated.
“We are delighted to be able to offer our support in a way that allows us to add the most value that we can. Horlicks has brought us comfort and nourishment for over 140 years and it has seen us through two world wars, polar expeditions and fuelled Olympic athletes. We take great pride in being able to provide those people most in need with what we affectionately refer to as ‘a warming and delicious hug in a mug’.”
Carol Price at Barnabus comments: “There was much excitement when the Horlicks delivery came. The men and women coming to us for support at our Drop-in are looking forward to us putting the kettle on so they can savour a warm mug, with all the goodness and comfort that brings.”
