Property Developer Draws On York Charity's Artistic Talent
Members from The Hut charity in York were presented with a computer tablet and Christmas vouchers after creating festive paintings for York based property development company S Harrison’s corporate advent calendar.
A group of 13 members from The Hut, which provides purposeful activities, support and companionship for adults with mental health problems or learning difficulties, took part in the competition.
Four pictures, consisting of Christmas trees painted by Bill and Michelle, decorative baubles by Ruth and presents by Siany, were all selected for the advent calendar.
Ann Scott, managing director at S Harrison, said: “Each year we produce a corporate advent calendar that is always well-received by our clients and suppliers throughout the UK. In recent years we’ve worked with numerous charities and other organisations to create unique and striking designs.
“This year we’re delighted to join forces with longstanding York based charity The Hut, which does a fantastic job making a big difference to lots of local people and their families. All the pictures we received were of a high standard, so it was a tough competition to judge, but the four that we’ve selected are fun, festive and very colourful, which made them ideal for our advent calendar.”
Emma Harris, service manager at The Hut, said: “We now work with more than 200 individuals and each week offer a full schedule of events and focussed activities including arts and crafts, life skills, men’s lunch club and well-being events.
“Working on projects with local businesses is something that our members always find rewarding, especially when it results in their paintings being distributed to hundreds of businesses. The gift of the new tablet from S Harrison is also very generous; it will prove hugely beneficial to our members and offers a vast range of interactive uses.”
