TRIP FOR LEEDS YOUNGSTERS THANKS TO HOUSEBUILDER’S DONATION

Youngsters in the Hunslet and Belle Isle area will be embarking on a Christmas and Summer excursion, following a donation from a West Yorkshire housebuilder.

The Hunslet Initiative has received a £1,000 donation from the Persimmon Homes Community Champion scheme.

The community project, which has delivered afterschool clubs, youth groups and sports activities for children, teens and young adults in the area for the past 12 years, will use the donation to heavily subside two seasonal trips.

The housebuilder’s national match-funding scheme seeks to support groups and charities working to improve the quality of life or environment across the region. Each month the builder donates up to £2,000 from each of its operating areas.

Ben Hutchinson, project leader at The Hunslet Initiative said: “We are delighted to receive this donation and so very grateful to Persimmon Homes.

“This will make a huge difference to so many individuals. The trips are all about creating memorable experiences. We have lots of ideas on where to go and look forward to sharing the good news with the children.”

Simon Whalley, sales director at Persimmon Homes West Yorkshire, said: “We are delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile project in the area where we are building.

“If people were unsuccessful in their Community Champions application, we urge them to visit the Persimmon Homes website and to try again and hopefully they will become our next recipient.”
