Startup space in Harrogate targets expansion with five-figure investment
Harrogate co-working space Indieworx Collective has announced a five-figure crowdfunding drive to support its expansion.
The social enterprise is targeting £10k in a campaign on Crowdfunder to extend its workspace with a second floor geared towards tech and digital firms.
Indieworx is based just outside the town centre, close to transport links, in a former shop that lay unused for months.
The space opened in November and has already attracted more than 30 members, including designers, writers, yoga teachers and AI specialists. That number is expected to triple in the new year.

Jem Henderson, founder of Indieworx Collective, previously worked for Digital Catapult.
She said: “Local community is at the heart of the Indieworx business model.
“We’re here to help early stage startups and entrepreneurs who will play a key role in the future of Harrogate’s economic success as well as freelancers and established small businesses looking for much needed modern, funky office space.
“Set up as a passion project of mine to help give Harrogate a bigger voice on the regional map, we’re really excited about what 2019 is going to bring for us and the fantastic community we have started to build in the space.”
Indieworx’s campaign follows the unexpected loss of anticipated grant funding, which it said fell through two weeks before launch.
As a result, the size of the workspace on offer was reduced – but Indieworx hopes to change that in the coming months.
