Festive Focus: Meet Synergy Automotive's Paul Parkinson

Can you introduce yourself and your business to our readers?

“I’m Paul Parkinson, managing director of Synergy Automotive, a ‘world class’ vehicle leasing provider and market disrupter which supplies finance packages and new vehicles on contract hire/leasing agreements to businesses and private individuals.

“My vision on launching Synergy in 2006 to deliver an excellent leasing experience to every client is resulting in repeat business, recommendations and referrals, identifying new opportunities in challenging climates, we’re pushing forward in an increasingly regulated marketplace where long-standing structures are constantly being disrupted.”

What was your company’s biggest achievement of the year?

“It was being crowned by the Leasing Broker Federation as the overall UK Leasing Broker of the Year 2018.

“We also retained our Best Medium Leasing Broker and Best Medium Leasing Broker Customer Service Award titles.

“2018 has reinforced how we outperform household names in the UK and globally in an international benchmark used by Fortune 500 companies to measure customer loyalty.

“Since 2015, we’ve sustained a ‘world class’ score of 94 in an index measuring customers’ willingness to recommend a company’s products or services.

“Additional milestones include doubling the size of our Harrogate headquarters.”

How would you approach 2018 differently, given the chance?

“I wouldn’t change a thing and am proud and humbled that all our groundwork and extensive investment over the last two years has seen us achieve unprecedented growth and profitability in 2018.

“This landmark has entailed a tenacious drive and relentless commitment from every one of our valued team which we have expanded to 45 after recruiting a further 14 employees this year.”

What are your company’s plans for the new year?

“Our dynamic three-year plan includes be in the UK’s top 5 leasing brokers for volume - at the moment we’re number nine.

“We’re also aiming to double the volume of units we deliver to 5,000 via organic growth and acquisitions.

“Recruitment remains a key priority to ensure we sustain our reputation of consistently delivering an exceptional customer service. Also integral to our strategy is accelerating our CSR strategy which includes further extending our role as a bike donation station in partnership with Welcome to Yorkshire and the Bike Libraries.”

What’s your favourite Christmas song?

“Chris Rea’s ‘Driving Home for Christmas’ as its iconic lyrics resonate deeply. This festive season will be even more magical as it’s the first one for our beautiful son Max who was born on December 29 last year.”
