Housebuilder reveals fortnight after Christmas is busiest time of year for new homes

While most people will be tucking into leftover turkey sandwiches and enjoying a break this Christmas, staff at Barratt Homes in Bristol are gearing up for their busiest time of the year.

The housebuilder has revealed that the fortnight after Christmas is its most action-packed time of the year – with eager househunters using the festive season to hit their computers and search for a new home for the New Year.

Barratt Homes saw a huge spike in website visits after Boxing Day last year. It was followed by another surge in the first week of January, when enquiries doubled compared to early Decem-ber.

Andrea Pilgrim, sales director for Barratt Homes, said: “Last year we saw a significant rise in activity on our website and the week between Christmas and New Year is fast becoming our busiest period for enquiries. As a result we’ll be making sure we’re very much open for busi-ness between Christmas and New Year so potential buyers can visit us once they’ve had a browse online.

“We inevitably spend more time at home at Christmas than any other time of year. It seems that spending so much time under the same roof leads people to think about where they’re liv-ing and their next property move.”
