QUALITY'S GOOD FOR HICA CARE SERVICES

Two organisations have been recognised nationally for the high quality of services provided to care home residents and hundreds of people living at home.

The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has rated both the Hica Group’s Prospect House care home in Goole and its domiciliary care service operation, Hica at Home – Doncaster, ‘Good’ after recent inspections.

Prospect House, which is home to 22 people living with learning disabilities, was singled out by residents for its high standards of care provision, accommodation, and skilled and dedicated staff.

Providing assistance with domestic tasks such as shopping and cleaning, one-to-one personal care, and visits from mobile support workers, Hica at Home helps people to lead independent lives in their own homes.

The local service scored ‘good’ across all areas of operations with users particularly impressed with the quality of care provided and the friendly, supportive staff.

The CQC is part of the Department of Health and Social Care, regulating and inspecting health and social care services in England.

Dawn Brown, manager at Prospect House, said the quality award reflected the hard work of the Hica team in delivering a consistently good service to the people they support.

She said: “We’re pleased with the latest CQC rating. The hard work of staff, along with ongoing investment in training, facilities, equipment and activities, continues to pay dividends as we strive to maintain the highest standards of service and support for residents.”

Angela Williams, manager at Hica at Home, added: “Going forward, we will maintain the high standards of care and quality of life, but also ensure that we continually look for ways to improve, so that we can provide even better care in the future.”

The Hica Group is a not for profit organisation, which operates a portfolio of 15 care homes across Hull and the East Riding. The company also runs two retirement villages and a homecare service which provides approximately 11,500 hours of support from four regional offices in the north of England.
