Newcastle fintech startup to grow globally from new city centre base
Fintech startup Kani Payments has moved into a newly refurbished office in central Newcastle.
The company, which provides a Software as a Service platform for large banks and other financial services businesses, now operates from a 1,150 sq ft base at 2 Collingwood Street.
Kani is the first tenant at the Grade-II listed five-storey property since its underwent a £500k refurb.
CEO Aaron Holmes said: “We’re delighted to have moved into 2 Collingwood Street and to make it our head office.
“The quality of the building and the location were really important factors for us, and we’re confident that our new office will help us both attract and retain the best of the region’s FinTech-experienced .Net and C# developers.”
He added: “We’re now looking forward to growing globally from our Newcastle base.”
In addition to its Newcastle headquarters, Kani operates in London and Spain.
Commercial property specialist Naylors secured the deal for 2 Collingwood Street.
Jessica Ross, associate director in Naylors’ office agency department, commented: “This prominent building is striking both inside and out, providing the ideal environment for the workplace of the future, while also embracing the property’s magnificent history.”
Following Kani Payments’ move to the building, for which Naylors and Knight Frank are the joint letting agents, around 6,000 sq ft of space remains to let.
