ENTRIES FOR 2019 MERSEYSIDE INNOVATION AWARDS NOW OPEN

Entries for 2019 Merseyside Innovation Awards now open

Now in its 23rd year, the Merseyside Innovation Awards are open once again for submissions, which will see the winners scoop £10,000 later this year.

The Merseyside Innovation Awards celebrates creativity and innovation across the region and has a long history of contributing to the economic development of multiple businesses from all around Merseyside.

An inclusive award, the Merseyside Innovation Awards commends companies both large and small. The Awards see a monthly winner selected between January and May. Three entrants are then selected for the final in July, where the selected winner will receive a £10,000 cash prize. The runners up each receive a cash prize of £2,500.

Last year 5D Health Protection Group claimed first prize, with cloud-based intelligence app Blinx and innovative software service providers for people with disabilities Oblige Global narrowly missing out on top spot.

Recognised for its huge growth since its inception in 2015, 5D Health Protection Group addressed a major global customer and medical need in the area of biofilm testing. Now a major leader in the industry, they work with academics, pubic health bodies and healthcare professionals with the aim to protect people, products and ideas from the detrimental effects of biofilms and microorganisms.

2019 will also see the return of the Prestige Award, specifically for larger businesses with a turnover of £1m to £25m, which in 2018 was awarded to Fleetsolve, in recognition of offering zero carbon and off grid solutions by using a combination of bio fuel and bio waste to provide sustainable electricity and heating.

Brian McCann, MIA founder and consultant at Mitchell Charlesworth Chartered Accountants, commented on the 2019 awards saying: “The quality and calibre of innovation in Merseyside gets stronger and stronger each year and we can’t wait to see what 2019 brings”.
