DLD Winter Concert Celebrates Students’ Success

DLD College London was awash with joy recently, as gifted performers showcased an impressive array of talent during the annual Winter Concert.

Students took to the stage at the Westminster Bridge-based school to delight and entertain the audience, whilst also celebrating their successes and achievements. Family and friends gathered together for the yearly show, which was themed ‘The Road to Wellbeing’, continuing the pioneering work that the school is doing on the well being of staff and students.

Master of ceremonies, Dr Michael Brett, welcomed the college’s guests before the DLD Band opened the show with remarkable renditions of the classic songs, ‘Come Together’ and ‘Take me Home Country Roads’. Throughout the concert, the atrium was filled with entertainment from singers and pianists, including spirited solo performances and duets.

Fresh from their performance, each act was interviewed by BTEC Creative Media student, Emily Keogh, who conducted the interviews for DLD TV (the college’s live video stream) which was being broadcast all over the world.

In recognition of student achievement, a number of acknowledgments were made; members of the DLD cohort who have contributed to the many of the co-curricular activities on offer at the school were highly-praised. College peer mentors were commended whilst DLD FC was awarded for winning the London League this term.

Principal at DLD College London, Irfan Latif commented: “The Concert was a wonderful occasion and it was a real pleasure to see so many parents and friends of the college in attendance. We are a community and a family which is what makes our college so special. Our students at DLD are remarkably talented, and it is a proud moment for parents and staff to see them rewarded for their outstanding efforts this term. I feel humbled and proud of how much has been achieved in such a short space of time this term.

“It was incredible to see the level of engagement, participation and most importantly, the sheer enjoyment of students. The breadth and depth of musical talent at DLD is strong and the quality of music in a school reflects its ethos, spirit and creativity, and I know that under Peter’s stewardship, our Head of Creative Arts, music will continue to go from strength to strength at College.”
