Eastern Airways to double flights between Newcastle and Aberdeen

Eastern Airways is ramping up flights between Newcastle International Airport and Aberdeen.

The airline, a franchise partner of Flybe, will double the service to up to four flights a day to improve the North East’s links with the oil capital.

From Monday (January 21), passengers travelling Monday to Thursday will be able to choose from up to four flight times.

Along with services available at Durham Tees Valley Airport, the North East will have up to seven flights a day jetting off to Aberdeen.

It follows the introduction of a new twice daily connection between Newcastle and London City Airport, which is now in operation.

Roger Hage, general manager operations at Eastern Airways, said: “After a strong start to bookings in 2019, we have significantly increased our Newcastle to Aberdeen service with some weekday customers now having double the amount of flights to choose from, thanks to our Monday-Thursday service operating four times daily from Newcastle.

“We know the Newcastle and Durham Tees Valley services to Aberdeen are heavily relied upon by those working in the oil and gas sector, and with the latest industry survey revealing the highest levels of confidence in business since 2013, we’re very pleased to help meet the demands in the sector.”

Aberdeen International Airport’s managing director, Steve Szalay, commented: “Newcastle has strong links with the energy sector and is therefore an essential destination for our business passengers.

“It is also a great location for a weekend break, consistently voted as one of the best in the UK. We look forward to welcoming our passengers to the newly upgraded terminal when the increased number of flights begins later this month.”

Aberdeen takes around an hour to reach from Newcastle.
