Opportunities for ethical businesses committed to sustainability at 2019 National Festival of Thrift

The award-winning National Festival of Thrift, the go-to event for anyone passionate about good living in sustainable ways, has opened bookings for stalls for its 2019 event.

The event, which is the UK’s national celebration of sustainability and attracted 35,000 visitors in 2018, is on the lookout for new ethical traders with a commitment to sustainability.

The 2019 event takes place over the weekend of 14 and 15 September and is once again heading back to the wonderful woodland surroundings of Kirkleatham, near Redcar on the North East coast.

A joyful weekend packed with sustainable arts, crafts, music, fashion, food, entertainment, shopping, demos, workshops and upcycling inspiration, the hugely popular Festival offers a weekend of free eco-friendly fun.

The Festival of Thrift organisers are currently developing an inventive programme of new content for 2019 and further details will be announced soon.

In keeping with previous events, the seventh Festival of Thrift will have its own unique themes and specially created programme of events, focusing this year on clean air and marking 50 years since the first Moon landing.

Festival of Thrift Director Stella Hall said: “It’s wonderful to announce the 2019 Festival and we have really exciting plans lined up.

“We are all about great leaps forward in ideas so we are commemorating the anniversary of the Moon landing and celebrating the clean air of the Tees Valley, and, as we look to the future, young people are very much to the fore.

“It’ll be a Festival weekend to remember and we’re now working with our partners to finalise the full programme. Watch this space!”

The dates for the 2019 Festival of Thrift were finalised after discussions with the organisers of the local Stokesley Show to avoid a clash this year.

Stella added: “We both agreed that it was better to schedule two of the area’s most popular events on separate weekends. Visitors now have two weekends of unmissable entertainment to look forward to in the North East and North Yorkshire this September.”
