Bupa acquires nine new UK and Ireland dental practices

Bupa Dental Care has acquired nine new dental practices across the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

The new sites will provide a mixture of NHS and private dentistry.

Stretching from Northern Ireland to the south coast of England, the acquisitions are the latest in a string of purchases for Bupa. All have been completed in the last six months, taking the number of acquisitions in the last year to 23.

Speaking of the news, Gabriela Pueyo, general manager for Bupa Dental Care, said: “While we have ambitious growth plans, it’s really important that we’re bringing on practices that share our high standards.

“With their commitment to customers and clinical excellence, I’m delighted to welcome these latest teams to the Bupa Dental Care family, and look forward to supporting their continued success.”

Amongst the recent announcements are b-dental in Islington - a full private practice which becomes Bupa’s first in north London.

It has also acquired the Alderney Dental Practice in Poole, and Wimborne Total Dental Care.

One of Bupa’s more unusual acquisitions, the aptly named Old Church Dental Practice occupies a grade I-listed building in Halifax which still has stained glass windows and original stonework.

In Leeds, Bupa also completed on the King Lane Dental Care which offers a mix of private and NHS dentistry.

In addition to the acquisitions, the company has also merged two local practices - Victoria Oral Clinic in Sutton Coldfield, and Lister House in west London - with staff and patients moving to existing Bupa sites nearby.

Gabriela continued: “As part of Bupa our clinicians get support with things like clinical governance and HR, meaning they’re free to focus on their patients, great dentistry and their own personal development.”
