Plans revealed for 40,000 sq ft health club in London’s new Wood Wharf district

Canary Wharf Group has announced plans for a new premium health club at its Wood Wharf development.

Fitness brand Third Space’s upcoming 40,000 sq ft health club, to be located at 15 Water Street, will feature a freestanding athletic rig, multi-purpose studios, medical and beauty suite, 20m swimming pool and a spa area.

The state-of-the-art facility will be split into two parts – a 32,000 sq ft ‘main’ space and an 8,000 sq ft area available exclusively to purchasers at 10 Park Drive, one of the first residential schemes within the new 23-acre Wood Wharf district.

Third Space was founded in 2001 and today operates five clubs across Canary Wharf, Tower Bridge, Soho, Marylebone and Tower Hill, with a sixth opening in Islington in the coming months.

Located adjacent to South Dock, the 10 Park Drive building is due for completion in 2019. It will comprise 74 studios apartments, 115 one-bedroom apartments, 141 two-bedroom apartments and 15 three-bedroom apartments.

Canary Wharf Group’s head of residential sales, Brian De’ath, said: “To be able to offer our residents at 10 Park Drive a private fitness space provided by an operator of the calibre of Third Space is a real coup for us.

“We want to create a lifestyle here that matches the quality of our residential offering and this is the perfect partnership.”

Third Space Wood Wharf, designed by architecture practice RHE, is due to open in 2021.
